Information Puerto de Mogán

Gran Canaria is one of seven islands, situated in the Atlantic Ocean and collectively named the Canary Islands. Known as the "Fortunate Islands" in ancient times the Canary Islands were rediscovered and claimed by the Portuguese in the mid 1300's but given up to Spain in 1479. Gran Canaria is volcanic in origin and its conical structure has endless gorges which pitch from the centre of the island to its shores.
Puerto de Mogán, Gran Canaria

Along one of these shorelines lies Puerto de Mogan where "LUCKY RUBY G" is berthed. The town has a sea water inlet and therefore boasts many bridges throughout. Due to this setting the town is charmingly known as "Little Venice". The old town is filled with a variety of Mediterranean houses and cottages with white-washed walls. An extraordinary abundance of bougainvillea, hibiscus and overhanging geraniums line the narrow streets. Down at the harbour a myriad of restaurants, bars, boutiques and souvenir shops are bustling with atmosphere. Market day on a Friday, which takes place down at the harbour, is something not to be missed. Regular ferries arrive and depart taking people to and from other resorts along the coast daily.
